The Quiet Art of Balance: Tending to What We Hold
In a world obsessed with winning and losing, perhaps the real wisdom lies in simply not dropping what matters.
We often talk about love and life in terms of victory and defeat. How to get someone. How to keep someone. How to win at relationships. As if hearts were trophies and connection a competition.
But lately, I’ve been thinking—what if we’ve been asking the wrong questions? What if it’s not about getting or losing… but about holding, with care, what we already have?
The Myth of “Getting” Someone
We’re taught to chase. To pursue. To “win” someone over. But if you have to convince someone to stay, you’ve already planted your roots in shaky ground. Real belonging isn’t won—it’s woven. Slowly, gently, across time and truth.
“Anything easily gained is easily forgotten.”
Maybe that’s why relationships that start in a blaze often flicker out. No one tells you that love isn’t a spark—it’s the tending of a fire. Day after day. In silence, in storms.
How do you “balance what you have” in your own life?
